Seals, Penguins and Birds | Antarctica

Although Antarctica may be covered in ice and snow, the nutrient-rich waters of the Southern Ocean that encircle the continent make its coastline a thriving ecosystem. This is especially true around the Antarctic Peninsula, the most accessible part of the continent for visitors. Penguin colonies are a highlight of any expedition, whether you visit during the breeding season or when chicks are huddled in their nests. Leopard seals patrol the ice floes, while skuas and other seabirds soar above.

In January 2024, I had the privilege of joining an Antarctic expedition, capturing the stunning landscapes, seascapes, and wildlife, both on land and beneath the ice. The images here offer just a glimpse of the remarkable wildlife that calls the Antarctic Peninsula home.
